A little history:

350.org began in 2008.

This 2009 youth-led campaign for awareness and action was the first activity of 350Hawaii.

In 2010, Rob Kinslow interviewed 350.org founder Bill McKibben, who gave a presentation at the State Art Museum.

During the planning for the Waikiki People’s Climate March in 2014, Brodie Lockard, Urie Kline, Sherry Pollack, Dave Mulinix, Joe Mobley, Louis Herman, Michelle Tigchelaar, Leilei Shih, Stuart Scott and others discussed forming a formal Hawaii chapter, complete with web site and membership list.

Brodie announced the new chapter at the march, along with our first goal:  convincing UH to divest from fossil fuels.  After a successful campaign, the UH Board of Regents agreed to divest in May 2015.

In 2017, we partnered with Sierra Club to convince First Hawaiian Bank to divest from the Dakota Access Pipeline.
